Helpful Tip #2

For our second helpful blog tip, we thought we might shed some light on how the guest lists work. In essence, there is actually only 1 big list - the 'Master Guest List' and we simply filter this list into the other lists to make for easier viewing.

For Guests added from iPhone 'Contacts' App -
  • When you add someone to the Wedding Party, they will also appear on the 'Invited All Day' list but instead of the small sun icon there is a bride, groom or 'WP' icon to enable quick identification of these type of guests.
  • If someone is already on the 'Invited All Day' list and you then decide to make them a bridesmaid - you can simply add them to wedding party section and they will be changed, without needing to delete them and add them again.
  • So Guests can be "moved" onto different lists by simply adding them to the new list without needing to delete them from the old list.
For Guests added as 'Just the Name' -
  • They are always assumed to be a new Guest - this allows the recording of 2 guests with the same name (if you really wanted to). Therefore, to move these type of guests, you need to delete them from one list and add them back again to the other.
Important Note: When you select people from the 'Contacts' app, iWedding Deluxe only reads and copies the name and a reference number to that contact into the app. iWedding Deluxe does not contain any code whatsoever that can alter or delete any of your iPhone contacts.

Hope this helps,

Email Guest List Bug - a Solution

THIS BUG HAS BEEN FIXED IN v1.2.

There is a bug in v1.1 that only shows up in particular circumstances. (as briefly described in one of the US iTunes reviews)

The generated email seems to sometimes only list those people who have been marked as Invited, RSVP and Confirmed or a few other combinations. It would appear on first glance to randomly leave some people off the email. There is actually a simple explanation which can be avoided until we provide a solution in our next update.

The problem occurs when a unexpected combination of Yes and No is recorded for the 3 - Invited, RSVP and Confirmed switches.

What we have found is that if a choice is set to a 'Yes' AND it is not currently visible....it will cause the bug. For example , if you have previously marked a person as Invited, RSVP and Attending to 'YES' BUT then slide the top 'Invited' switch to 'NO' (causing the other options / rows to disappear) then the email filter is getting confused as the RSVP'd and Confirmed are still recorded in the background as 'YES' (this is an intended saving state function). So, if you are backtracking on invites, please ensure that you set the others to 'NO' and they should show up in email correctly.

We would like to say a big Thank You to our helpful and friendly user - Jaclyn, for helping us to debug and locate this issue.

Can you help with iWedding Deluxe?

Dear iWedding Deluxe users,

A recent study by Flurry, an iPhone analytics company, found that iPhone apps only have a 15% user retention rate. After 2 months, we are currently showing a user retention rate of 86%.

This is a hugh number which shows that users love the app and are using it daily. We are very pleased to announce that, up to now, we have not received a single crash report from Apple. We have also not received many suggestions for more features.

These 3 points actually present an odd situation....... as we don't know what to do next to improve or change the app and as our users are not uninstalling the app very often then not many users have actually rated the app in iTunes.

So how can you help iWedding Deluxe?

1. We need your suggestions for new features.

2. We would like to hear if there are any other apps that you like the user interface for or if there is a certain part of iWedding Deluxe that needs aesthetic improvement.

3. We need everyone who is using the app to take a minute and go to iTunes and either rate it, 5 stars would be great ;-) , or even leave a quick review.

We are currently working on integrating more Inspiration sections to bring you even more ideas for your big day.

Your support is greatly appreciated and thank you for purchasing iWedding Deluxe,

Wishing you All the Best and a Happy New Year,

Regards

Helpful Tip #1

Recently we have received a number of emails asking some very similar questions. So we thought we might use this opportunity to pass on the answers as some more useful Hints and Tips. So here is tip #1:

Question: How do you record an extra guest / unknown 'Plus 1' when they are 'Invited All Day'?

Our recommended method for adding an extra guest to 'Invited All Day' guests is achieved by using some slightly 'outside the box' thinking.

For example, if you have a guest - ' John Smith' - and you wish to add their unknown guest or 'Plus 1' then there is no immediately obvious solution like you find when the guest is a 'Just the Evening' guest (i.e. a row in their details called 'No of extra guests'). This is not a design flaw. We considered this situation at length and decided that the ability to record an individual's meal choice for the 'Plus 1' was a necessity.

So the 'outside the box' solution is:

1. add a guest using the 'with Just the Name' option.

2. First name: 'John' and Last name: ' Smith's +1'.

This method allows the separate recording of a meal option for each day guest.

When you know the name of the 'Plus 1' you could simply change or edit it by tapping directly on the blue arrow on the end of the row to enter editing mode and edit the name.

Hope that helps,
